Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer

Aaron Wright serves as Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for the Alabama Office of Information Technology, where he leads statewide efforts to advance the responsible, secure, and effective adoption of artificial intelligence across government. In this role, he works with agencies to strengthen AI governance, expand workforce education, foster cross-agency collaboration, and move promising AI use cases from experimentation to measurable operational impact.

Mr. Wright brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience across healthcare and state government. He joined the State of Alabama in 2010 and has held leadership roles supporting enterprise applications, data strategy, and cross-agency technology initiatives. He previously co-led the Data Management and Ownership working group for Governor Kay Ivey’s Task Force on Generative Artificial Intelligence and currently leads the Alabama AI Community of Practice.

Mr. Wright holds a master’s degree in information technology from the University of West Florida.
