In June of this year, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will implement Microsoft’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) to allow end users to change or reset their password without administrative or service desk involvement. An expired password may affect State employees’ ability to access their State of Alabama email account and possibly essential agency resources.
All agencies within the Alabama Shared Microsoft Tenant will have access to SSPR, and users will receive a password expiration notification email 14 days before their password expires, followed by subsequent daily notifications until the password is changed or expires.
Multifactor identification (MFA) will be required by default, so new Microsoft Authenticator users must complete validation before moving forward with SSPR.
SSPR is another useful tool available to agencies in OIT’s Shared Microsoft Tenant.
